As men & women get older, 40 is not old, and we have been single for a while, we become more and more independent, so to be able to share our lives with someone else we tend to be kind of fussy who it will be.
If it isn't the right person we are fine on our own.
We usually have a good friend base, so we are not lonely.
I like my life as it is, I don't want to change it too much just to be with someone else, and she may be the same way.

I think it's difficult for a woman to be in a relationship in today's society. If she joins a dating site she is going to get 100's of emails from guys. It's almost impossible to pick one from them all. And even if she did find someone, another one will come a long that is taller, kinder, more generous, etc.

Wanting and finding are often 2 very different things. Especially in your 40's. For guys also. I've "wanted" a relationship for years and years, have yet to find someone for that. For one reason or another, just never met the right person for it or we weren't on the same page.
