So he "doesn't like doing it", "would prefer her to do it." If that's the case, then there must also be things that she doesn't like doing, that she wants him to do for her. But you haven't explained that. So it appears you want a traditional girl/woman, but without all of the other things which go along with that.

This is not how much of the world lives anymore. In some older cultures, yes, it's still the way. But when both people work F/T, most girls nowadays would think this is archaic and disrespectful to expect this. It puts her in the position of caring for him and being more of a mother than a girlfriend. And this is not something most guys want - to take sex out of the relationship.

I don't see it as something that should be a REQUIREMENT, but it IS a quick and easy way of showing love, something that WAY too many people ignore the importance of. Feeling unappreciated leads to resentment, resentment leads to anger, anger leads to ended relationships, which is like the dark side of the Force, but with more screams and less lightning.

Of course, that shouldn't be one-sided; it's not like appreciation should be a one-way street.
