I was just casually talking with a guy I like and he said if he could describe me he said I am kind but not nice.
What does that mean. I thought nice and kind were the same thing.
Is this a bad thing?

It's definitly not a compliment but maybe his personality just doesn't fit with yours making him feel unpleasant arround you.
Best thing to do is ask him to be more specific because it it's saying 2 opposites of eachother at the same time. It doesn't make sense
i rather be thought of as kind then nice when you're nice to people you get shitted on and treated like dirt and garbage you can be kind by helping others but it doesn't neccessarily mean you have to be nice
I really like your idea of it. Like I'm a kind person. And will do for others. But I still have boundaries. And well respected. I'm not a "nice girl" or a push over.
Maybe it's wishful thinking but I hope to take it as neither a compliment or an insult. But maybe just a matter of fact. Thank you

Yeah it's a bad thing because he's trying to manipulate you ask him to explain himself because there's no logic to that you're kind of nice when you give me what I want but you're mean when you don't
A kind but not nice person will help you out, but frown the entire time.
That’s GOOD. “Nice” is fake kindness
