How does sharing power, work in your relationship?

Do you believe in sharing power in a relationship?

If you do, why and how?

Bonus question for the thinkers... do you believe each has their jurisdiction in regards to power or should there be a sharing of power in every aspect of your relationship?

If you mean a couple can be more capable than a singleton, it's likely because each of them has their own comfort area and competency of skills.

Some areas of their lives, one will lead, other areas the other will lead. Others again, both cooperate or can lead interchangeably.

It might work for a few for all aspects to be a democracy with no overall responsibility but I would imagine this is rare.

I think "power couple" means something different than the rest of the question, like two executives or two celebrities or whatever. Or versions of that compared with other people you know or go to school with or whatever, like if the student body president and student council president were dating.

As far as power sharing in my relationship, technically I will obey him but he is mostly trying to make me happy and in reality I decide a lot of things, he kind of rubber stamps it, it feels fair to me but every relationship is different.

It’s not a matter of “belief”. Power is shared in 100% relationships. It’s so phenomenally rare for a purely dominant/submissive relationship to exist that i’ll go out on a limb and say that it’s NEVER existed in a healthy relationship.
Who holds the majority of power can and does vary. Healthy adults establish these boundaries with good communication BEFORE committing to one another. Personally, i prefer the lion’s share of power and responsibility. I’m adaptable as to how much and what, specifically.

We approach it as each thing comes along. With chores it’s whoever comes across it first just does it. With cooking, same and then the family helps as we each come home. Same with clean-up. Normal kindness. And turns into fun family time. It works better than assigning things. It all has to get done anyway. But communication is key. To not be afraid to talk to each other about anything.

No. It's my job to provide and protect so I get the final say. However I always ask my wife's opinion, and definitely consider it fairly. I also explain why I'm not doing it her way if that's not my call.

That said I don't want to be an ogre about it either, but when shit gets serious what I say goes.

Relationships aren't about power.

If treatment is so poor that power even becomes a mentioned topic, then thats it's own problem.

Mechanically speaking both people should have equal power, but mentally it should just be a couple enjoying eachother's company too much to care.

Compromise, collaborate, make deal, decide plan together, but listening is important to female and male, no one like to feel ignored

I dont have power struggle in my marriage. We just kinda talk about things, decide together if its a good idea or not, and assuming we have the determination and motivation, we just marshal the resources to make it happen.
