Do you agree with the idea that love is something that can extend or shorten one's lifespan?
- 3.2K opinions shared on Relationships topic.
+1 yThere may be some truth in that.
When I was young and single, I rarely got sick. Then , I got married, and got sick a few times every year. Then we had kids and it seemed I got sick all the time. When the kids got older and went on their own, I got sick less and less.
They say hermits live a long time... maybe that's because they don't interact with people to make them sick.
If you never fall in love, you never get into situations where others close to you give you germs to make you sick. If you don't get sick, you live longer.

But if you went to live by yourself in some woods without sociality you are likely to live less long, since it hurts are subconscious biological drive.00 Reply

+1 yit can shorten... or maybe you have not find the right oerson for you. and the right person is the one you feel you are accepted, the one who prioritize you rather than their friends because you are there as SO to get praised from his friends and family. you are there as trophy SO to aid his insecurity. can appreciate you for the person that you are

+1 yIt can lengthen it if its the right person. But the wrong lover and lack of self reflection can cause a lot of stress on the body.

+1 y"May"? No- it does. How would expending massive amounts of time and effort to acquire resources and win someone's affections NOT do a number on you? Stress does to telomeres what the guillotine does for dandruff.
The question is, do you want quantity or quality?
00 ReplyPossibly, but I’d rather live more than live longer personally.
You can probably easily find the answer to this question by looking up the worlds oldest people and were they single or not.
10 Reply3.1K opinions shared on Relationships topic. I think it can affect your lifespan, but I don't think it is universal. It depends on the person. Eating a lot of soy and nuts may be good for a lot of people, it could kill me. So his plan worked for him, but it isn't some big secret that will work for everybody.

+1 ynaw, i actually think it lengthens your life "generally speaking" and that the fact he never fell in love probably didn't have much to do with his love life but rather with his overall physical health and genes.

00 Reply If he had grown up today, his secret would've been becoming a transvestite. That way he'd be stress free. Wouldn't get socially and mentally beaten into the ground on social media and in public by Metoo, BLM, feminists, etc.

No, men don't usually marry women younger than them, Every married man I know married a woman about his own age.
You are looking at old statistics too, Wives don't take care of their husbands like they use too since they are now in the workforce. Modern marriage is basically two single people living under one roof doing separate 9 to 5.
The modern husband is far more neglected.

@Quigly The average age difference (for a heterosexual couple) is 2.3 years, with the man older than the woman. In 64 percent of heterosexual couples, the man is older. In 23 percent, the woman is older, and in the remaining 13 percent, the partners are less than 12 months apart in age.
Current Population Survey (CPS) and is based on information provided by 31,075 male-female couples. Those surveyed couples are supposed to represent the estimated 70 million heterosexual couples who live together in the U. S. It doesn’t matter whether they’re married or unmarried, parents or childless — all couples are counted in the CPS, unless they’re gay.
So yes, statistically, on average men marry women younger than them selves.
This article that was published my Harvard med also states that men in relationships are happier, healthier and live longer than men who aren’t.
The science speaks for it’s self.
