The thought of his having one makes me uncomfortable but it isn't necessarily bad.

It makes me uncomfortable just for what it entails and what could happen with one. Sometimes, it feels like bad juju; having one inviting situations in which you'd have to use it.

They're fears that could be worked through, but for now it would make me uneasy.

It would depend on two things, I guess. 1. If he has a weapon permit (you can't get a weapon just like that over here). 2. The reason behind getting it.
