My ex-fwb just texted me yesterday, saying he wanted to meet up to hookup with me like old times. He has been seeing the same woman for 2 years and I currently have a boyfriend. He lives out-of-state, but comes back to CA every few months to see his family. I rejected his invite because I love my boyfriend.

Guys, do people cheat when they are happy in a relationship? Like, does he want to cheat because he is unhappy in his relationship or does he just cheat for fun? Either way, I’m glad he was just my friends with benefits. I feel bad for his girlfriend.

A person like that probably doesn't really put himself completely into a relationship. He would cheat for the extra sex and also for a bit of power. By power I mean, in his mind she can't really hurt him or really get one up on him if she has an affair ever because he beat her to it. No matter what she does to him in the future he's one step ahead, and it is a bit of a thrill for people who lie, cheat, and play games like that. He'll never have a clear conscience or really know what it means to love somebody, but he'll win the disgusting game he's playing. Lots of women do it to. They have their fuck buddies on the side and other options ready to go. These kind of people are addicted to casual sex, they don't value their partners, and they're basically completely selfish.

They don't want their current relationship to end but in the meantime they get the things they need which are usually validation, and emotional bonding.
