Why do people feel the need to cheat?

I was chatting with this guy online and he is bragging about how he is hooking up with his girlfriend's best friend. I just don't get it, I would love to be in a relationship right now and there's people like this guy that are in one and have no respect towards their partner. I could never do something like that, if you aren't commited to someone than don't be with them. It is as simple as that.

Learn some respect and have the decency to end the relationship and not waste that person's time thinking you love them when behind their back you are betraying them like that. People like that honestly deserve to be single for life, it just makes me feel sick now many people in relationships this is happening to.

Cheating can occur for a lot of reasons but it mainly comes down to insecurities, they lack confidence and self esteem within themselves , They might have a happy relationship with someone but they still feel the need to cheat cuz they feel like they are missing out on something in life , they feel a void and blame their partners for not fulfilling that void , those type of cheaters are the biggest pieces of shit on the planet , just like the guy you are talking about , He is pure piece of shit. Cheating in general is a selfish act , And sadly cheating occurs a lot , If you can’t stay loyal to a partner then there is no point staying in a relationship with them period , Cuz a cheater already proved to themselves that they truly don’t love and value their partner if they can cheat on them , Most people don’t like to admit that they are a piece of shit, so they try to play victim and make excuses and point fingers as to why they cheated , usually they will blame their partner for their actions and point out the flaws their partner didn’t fulfill to make them feel better about themselves as to why they did it. Cheating is not a mistake it’s a choice. If you can cheat on someone then your best bet is to end that relationship with that someone and move on , not pretend that you still love and value them , you will only be lying to yourself , Move on and Realize you are not meant to be with that person , love them enough to let them go and find true love instead of playing them for your own selfishness , For the most part A girl will cheat if she feels her partner isn’t man enough that he doesn’t meet all her expectations, she is attracted to his status , she wants to look up at her man not look down on him , A guy will cheat if she belittles him and compares him to other men and makes him feel like he has to earn sex from her , When a girl uses sex as a weapon and lacks in that department she better be prepared to be cheated on or dumped , cuz a guy wants to feel wanted and valued

2) Give him the sex when he wants it

I think all men know this is the truth when it comes to long term relationships.

Now with women I think it's a mix of curiosity and validation. It feels like 90% of the woman's life is spent seeking and then reaffirming her validity in social groups. Makes sense from a biological standpoint but not so much in current year. Since men are more logical and roll with the punches we see this as petty. Just like men still have the childish side of willing to wrestle in the mud at most any age a woman still has this childish side of petty squabbles over her validity. This is why I never really view anyone as a true "adult" as we like to think of them lmao.

I see it like values vs. temptations. You have one group of people who are so strong in their values and so good at resisting temptations (most admirable). Then you have another group who have the values but cheat on them in the best opportunities (maybe understandable). Then you have the last group who discard all sense of values and just go for their temptations (despicable).

For me, it is hard to judge cheaters. I'm not one but I might even be leaning towards the lucky category of people. I'm not completely devoid of temptations but I'm not popular enough to be saturated by them, they're like one blue moon in a bar with a flirty girl without my wife and I just look down at the wedding ring and remember loving wife at home and I cockblock myself! I start talking about how much I love my wife or introduce the flirty girl to one of my single friends.

But it's hard for me to judge like a Tiger Woods because I'm nowhere near as popular with the girls. I can't say with 100% certainty that I'd do better in his shoes. I hope I do, but I can't know for sure. I'm pretty sure though that I could at least avoid being one of those who brag about it if my moral values stay intact. I'd be ashamed of it, at the very least, if I were Tiger Woods.

I always saw accountability as the number one way to sort of evaluate a person first and foremost. Like my problem was never cheating on girls. But I do have a problem indulging too much in alcohol and being stupid. But I can at least admit to myself and others that this is a problem and a mistake, and I feel shame about it and I am trying some things to improve even though I am stupidly slow at improving here (I have improved but over the course of years rather than months or weeks). Some people have no shame about the costs they impose on others and they're the ones most devoid of values as I see it, like in your example of the guy bragging online. I wish I could be a better person -- you know -- I'm in that camp which is so far from admirable but hopefully not too despicable. Some people are fine with being the worst type of person.

People who cheat usually don't want to or simply can't leave their relationships. In a weird way, the cheating is almost the person's attempt at staying. It's like being happy, and also staying so the other person feels happy. Cheaters are just living extraordinarily empty and unsatisfying lives. They are extremely underwhelmed by their lives and they feel trapped, so the cheating becomes a source of validation and excitement.

I people just say cheating because they feel cheated, know the whold damn time that the person has attractive qualities. Can you say the same thing if your married partner gains 100 lbs for no good reason? It's not like you can abuse them or change them to lose weight without them wanting to do it for themselves. It sucks, no matter how much you show them love, they'll just eat themselves to death. Is the solution to just divorce? It's an arguably shallow problem but one that I'd defend cheating. Anyone who says different has probably never been with someone 350 lbs.
