Is it odd to ask a friend for relationship help?

The guy I like has no classes with me (he did last year, I'm no weirdo), but my friend has an elective with him. Would it be weird to ask her to like, mention me or something?

Asking a friend for advice is good, however, please consider your friend's relationship with whomever you are asking about. I have heard nightmares where friends got in the middle and manipulated the situation for themselves at the expense of the other couple. If possible, some advice without any direct relationship to the person that you are interested in. I know that is super hard given how well we are all locked-in and networked these days.
