Are relationships even worth it?

Quite honestly, I don’t think they are. You give your heart to someone and you trust them not to crush it. But, they do anyway. Humans are not trustworthy, so it’s not worth the risk.

You could say that about a lot of things in life: I could get into a wreck driving car; I could have a heart attack from eating fast food; I could get shot going into the city.

Life comes with risks, and it is our decision if we want to take them or not. It is our choice. But with risk comes great reward. It is a risk to invest in college (you might hate your degree, or the job market might be bad). It is a risk to have children (they could be kidnapped some day). It is a risk to get married (they could cheat on you).

Having a little faith though, is what gets all of us through the day. You have faith your next breath won't be your last. You have faith that the sun will rise tomorrow. You even have faith that being alone forever means that you'll never get hurt.

But that doesn't mean it's true. And it doesn't mean any of those things are destined to happen. Most of the most wonderful things in life take a little faith to enjoy them. The best thing we can do is grow as people to be able to handle the risk and ride it out if things don't turn out in our favor. Because a lot of times, the risk is totally worth it.

And we might go our whole lives wondering what could have been, the biggest regret of all.

When we get heartbroken a lot we develop that fear and tendency that it's gonna keep happening to us that someone Is gonna betray us, lie, cheat, abuse etc but in my opinion you're the only one who gonna save yourself from the heartache. Nobody can pick up those pieces, love is definitely a risk like many things in life, heck leaving your front door is a risk everyday for the world. I'm not being sour either because I used to face many heartbreaks and cruel people when I was younger but I've also learned love is a beautiful thing, sure there are many people who are fakes and have bad intentions but there are too some wonderful people out there but its up to you at the end of the day if this risk is something you wanna take on, and if you don't thats okay too but to me even though my heart's been crushed over and over I still believe true love is out there and it was when I was at my lowest ready to give up almost that I met my current boyfriend. Anyways, stay strong and regardless of what you decide you're worth it to someone out there.

I disagree, A relationship is just a part of our lives and it’s about completing each other’s qualities to survive, you would be shocked if you realized that the truth is no one is completely loyal and unconditional.

They're only worth it if it works out. Most thing are if it works out, isn't it? It's life, it's diving into the unknown. The unknown can be scary, you might succeed, you might fail. Just like with other things, you don't know if the relationship will work out.

I recently changed jobs, it's also a bit scary. I don't know how work will be, will it be interesting? will the colleagues be nice? Is my boss going to be a nightmare or not? We don't know until we try, we won't know how those people are going to be unless we get to know them.

Same with friendships. Same with relationships. But my close friends are a treasure. It worked out with them, it didn't work out with many, but quality over quantity. The same thing will happen with relationships. I'm going to be dating again and I'm aware that it won't work with many, so I'm going to have to keep trying. If you want a relationship, you should definitely try and search for it. If you don't want it, don't worry about it.

I know how you feel…I’m so sorry someone did that to you. To earn someone’s trust and then break it is a terrible thing and hurts more than anything.

But not all relationships are that way. My parents are still together after 30 years. They still love and stand by eachother.

Yes and no. The right one is. And we are emotional creatures with our programming baked in so we don't really have a choice.

But if we did, or if we counter the programming, many of us would be better off on our own
