Why do people cheat? can neglect from a partner have contributed, and in that case, who is to blame?

It is true there are many contributing factors to people's decisions, but that doesn't minimize the fact their decisions are theirs alone. Blaming others for our decisions is just showing our reluctance to take accountability for our choices. It's saying we feel we're more entitled than others our choices might impact.

It would be nice if people stopped focusing on cheating on this site. It's as if no one wants to look at their own choices, finding it easier to focus on the choices of others. I can understand, as other people's choices appear 2-dimensional to us, whereas our choices appear 20-dimensional to us, making it easier to focus on others than ourselves. No one's forcing anyone to neglect a partner or stay with a cheating partner. If you don't like what you see, change your own patterns or move on, but expecting others to change for you will never make sense. Beating a dead horse will not make it come back alive. The only thing we have control of is our own choices. Take charge of your life rather than waste time focusing on things out of your control.

If your partner is not having sex as much as you woould like, the appropriate response is to have a discussion on that subject and let them know that you are dissatisfied. If they still do not change the frequency of sex, have another discussion and ask if they have any suggestions for how you can get more sexual satisfaction. If that doesn't work, then you need to decide if the problem is serious enough to justify ending the relationship. If so, break up. . . and then go out and screw whoever you want.

Cheating is YOUR decision and blaming your partner for lack of sex is just a means of you disavowing responsibility for your own conduct.

People usually cheat because something is missing from their primary relationship. That is still no excuse, but that is what leads to it.

I believe that usually men cheat because of sexual desires. Like the typical sexless marriage situation where the wife always says she is tired or has headache. This sexual frustration pushes men to cheat. Just sex. I think women mostly cheat because of emotional neglect. A husband who works too much or even if, doesn‘t pay her any attention or doesn‘t feel her loved and wanted and desired. This pushes women to cheat and feel desired again. But I think there are also many other reasons. The thrill of it being forbidden, just not caring at all about the partner, having zero self control and so on

They're selfish, plain and simple. People who cheat will excuse it with things like "neglect". But that's all it is, an excuse. A person always has the opportunity to end the relationship. Cheating is not excusable EVER!
