When you officially became someone's boyfriend or girlfriend, how did it happen? Did someone just ask, "will you be my girlfriend/boyfriend"?

Please share about past and/or current significant others. I'm curious about the moment when it becomes official. How did it happen? How did you feel. I'm sure some of you have had simple processes and some of you had more complex ones.

It usually starts with a “I wanna get to know you.” Then moves to “Lets hang out.” And then one of us eventually says “So when we gonna make this official”. I dont think i’ve ever been straight up asked “Want to be my girlfriend” unless we were kids. Just sounds cringey lmao. And a lot of dudes these days dont even say that. They say to me “im tryna lock you down” or “put that ass on lock” or some shit. The “talking” stage is very easy for me. But flatout asking me to be their girlfriend gives me butterflies and not often in a good way

Probably my best experience was a girl I asked to a middle school dance with. I asked her to the dance. She said yes. We went to the dance and had a great time. On Monday, we were eating lunch together when a friend of ours said "you guys are dating?" with an incredulous look. We looked at each other and simultaneously said "yes". So, I guess are friend asked us!
