Most of romantic love are based on sexual attraction and no real love at all. This is further worsened by the prevalence of casual sex and casual hook-ups which are just emotionless lust.

Most people especially American teenagers are emotionless sociopaths when it comes to romance because they are heavily into cheating and sex-based emotionless romance. Just look at college frat boys who participate in orgies, fucks every attractive woman they see, and rape females.

All of these together result in things such as falling out of love, sudden divorce, and sudden break-ups. In worse cases, this results in cheating.

Because love demands sacrifice. Its putting someone else's need before your own. So by its very nature, in addition to its virtues of pleasure and happiness, its also balanced by its vices. Yes, love hurts. I've only ever realized im in love... when it hurts.
