It’s not that simple. You used doctors as an example, so i will too. Most people would be delighted to have the financial security of being with a doctor. Mostly only doctors understand the sacrifices involved though. So in order to avoid a long chain of failed relationships, doctors often wise up and start dating other doctors. The same can be said of celebrities. It’s tough to include someone in your life who doesn’t understand the demands of the constant spotlight. So they often date other celebrities.
Beside that, too many people are too lazy and stoopid to not date people with whom they work. So lots of people end up with someone who generally works in the same industry, even if only in the short term.
I’m certain that most people don’t simply say to themselves, “This is what i do and my future wife or husband will do the same.”

At our firehosue there were a few couples that were both EMT's and 1 couple that were both fire & EMS.
the vast majority were in different fields.
I have't ever dated someone that was in the same profession as myself, so those that are seem to be in the minority.

I think it depends. I think people who work similar shifts/hours tend to date each other way more than conflicting schedules.

The number of cops I know who are dating ER nurses/doctors is crazy lol

Both fields tend to work 12 hour shifts with the rotating schedules and both fields see a bunch of messed up shit.

It will always be quite common if working in a gender-diverse field. If for no other reason than us actually meeting them. Getting to know them. That alone makes the odds higher than average.
