Should I feel hurt he didn't dnt tell me his 12yr old dog died?

My partner of 6 years was away this weekend visiting his teenagers.

I could feel something was off. He was randomly texting me, hi I'm thinking of you. Just weird unlike him things.

He's an awful communicator and needs me to lead all emotional relationship discussions. Hevalso compartmentalizes a lot.

Today I said what's up? Something is off with you. He responds I had to put my dog to sleep yesterday. He put his dog to sleep yesterday afternoon and doesn't tell me until I ask whats wrong at 3pm the next day.

It's kind of hurtful or am I over analyzing. He's still away when he finally told me and I would be seeing him tomorrow. I just think putting diwn your dog is a big deal not to tell ur girlfriend of 6 years.

That's just how he is. You expect him to be like you but he's not.

You are taking it personally when it shouldn't be. He deals with it the way he deals with it. You expect him to be someone that he's not. You have to accept who he is. If you expect him to be someone else, then it means you don't accept him for who he is.

After six years I assume you love him. You get the whole package. You don't get to pick and choose.

Right. It kind of let's me see where his priority is in important situations. This was a huge thing for him. His kids know because they were there but he HAD to have told someone.
