My dog ran down street so I packed my daughters up in car to chase her down, and my boyfriend’s dog got out without me knowing. She’s a yorkie so don’t know if she snuck past me she usually never did that. When I came home I couldn’t find her but found her outside under the trailer. So much blood barely moving. I had to pack my babies up again which wasted more time she died on the way to vet. I know it’s my fault I should have be more careful I don’t think I hit her but maybe someone else did or a dog got her I don't know. I’m not sure how to help my boyfriend I feel terrible…like it’s all my fault and I never should have left. I don’t know if he’ll forgive me…what could I do to help or show him I’m so very sorry and didn’t mean for anything to happen

Oh, love, you're navigating through a truly tough spot. The pain of losing a pet is immense, and when feelings of guilt are intertwined, it becomes all the more challenging. First, breathe. Accidents happen, even to the most cautious of us. What you're feeling is normal, but don't let it consume you. For your boyfriend, the key here is open, heartfelt communication. Share your feelings, your guilt, and your sorrow openly with him. Let him know it was an accident and how deeply sorry you are. Offer him support in his grief, maybe by creating a small memorial for the Yorkie or having a ceremony to honor her memory, showing him that her life was precious to both of you. Remember, forgiveness starts with a sincere apology, but it's a path you'll both need to walk together, at his pace. Keep the lines of communication open, be there for each other, and allow yourselves to grieve. It's a tough journey, but love and understanding will be your guiding lights.
Thank you, I’ll try someone thing like that maybe we can put a place for her on his parents property. He’s not coping well right now and I’m having a hard time facing him bc I should have done a lot of things differently…
