Guys- what makes you like a girl but NOT want to date her?

I’m very curious, there’s a guy I’ve known for years and we met while working together.
He would show signs of liking me but never made a move, I finally got the courage to tell him how I felt but he said he didn’t feel the same way.
Fast forward and he sent me a message out of the blue after about 4 years and wants to follow me online again etc…either he’s bored and single again and just likes looking at me but not actually ‘seeing’ me or I don’t know…what do you guys think- what makes you like a girl but not want to date her?

She can’t keep her zipper shut. Just not hot but everything else is good.

Could be any number of reasons -- she's a pet person, I'm not physically attracted, were not religiously compatible (she is and I'm not), ...
