Why is my boyfriend still with me when he doesn’t mention “us” in his future plans?

We are almost done with school. I’m about to work in the big city, but he said him and his friends are planning to live more on the country/secluded part of the state- it’s beautiful. But it’s far from my work. It’s been his dream and it hurts to know I’m not part of his big dream.

He is probably, in his mind, trying to stay out of your way. Part of him might not feel like you have a place for the Country boy in the City girl heart or world. He’s trying not to pressure you either is my guess.
On the other hand, he may be purposely communicating poorly. Only you know his track record there?

That's life. People, especially young people, get together without considering whether they have compatible plans for the future.
