I... well, get him something he truly needs. No worse present than expensive wrong thing.
Of right things: from a (let's say engraved or specifically designed to be elegant and cleverly useful) nailcliper, or a car smartphone holder, or a dashcam, or rear-of-the-seat jacket hanger, via let's say really sturdy and slick luggage, a watch with 360° 24x7 audio and video recording (if it exists) to a car or house he'd really like - what counts is that you have perceived his real needs (and deficiencies, in the sense of not having a thing that could help - that you coukd afford as a present to him).
A needle for sim card tray removal from a smartphone, that is a small keyring or a cufflink or so woukd do it for me. As would any if the above. As would a compleyely loving kiss - even just on my face cheek. Or a perfume she'd like on me (in fact, anything that enhances the nasal exlerience, the smells - would always go far with me - I have a very sensitive nose). A good, gluten free almond croissant/filled pastry - that could then reliably be sourced again - mamma mia, I'd love her to bits for that!
There used to be a time when girls were explaining all those 'small things' that take accepting (and loving, or at least nurturing) someone's true state, not just their image and 'public persona' (largely faked, a veneer to hide deficiencies and worries behind). Now girls are mostly either oversexualised (the not-very-clever ones) or jaded (usually the more clever but disappointed ones). Maybe it has to do with... well, it's politics, and politics I really dislike.
Fine leather belt, shoes, Movado watch, and super nice money clip.
Its hard to say without any info on your boyfriend.
How expensive?
