I hate it. It's so frustrating and downright disrespectful to me. Just leave a person on delivered so that it doesn't appear that you read it even if you did especially in a relationship.

Sounds like a person problem. You send messages to people say what you want to say, not to seek attention. If someone wants to say something to you, then they will send their own message.

I send a message to get a reply back to whatever message I sent. Not to be stared at and not responded to. Not seeking attention. I don't send messages very often so when I do, I expect one to be returned is all when read.

I mean you might get a response if there is a question in there... It doesn't mean you will get an answer instantly. Sometimes people are busy. Sometimes people don't have an answer for you and they have to think about it or do some research. Sometimes you ask trivial things that don't really warrant a response. Sometimes they figure they will see you tomorrow and will just talk to you in person face to face about it. Sometimes people just want to avoid answering either because of privacy or out of courtesy... So long as they don't ignore you indefinitely I don't see it as an issue. If you communicate on a relatively normal basis and have somewhat natural conversation and keep up a healthy relationship, you don't have to be playing message tag all the time where every message gets a new message, every time between messages back in fort is at the same time interval. If you expect people to open your text read it and get right back to you every time, it seems a bit needy. If they ignore all conversation for several weeks or something, then maybe there's a problem.

It just comes off lazy to not text back after the message has been read to me. Maybe not to you but that's how it comes off to me. I don't text often so maybe that's why I treat it so seriously. 🤷
