What's the thoughts on being left on read?

I do not know why but I get the ick when someone leaves me on read, I get people are busy, everyone gets busy but why have the time to read the message, yet not respond to it? Especially mid conversation. I would never do that to someone. Is it normal? Am I overthinking it?

I get interrupted in the middle of something constantly, I clicked on something and possibly didn't even have time to finish reading it before I've got someone in my office asking me something and I try to remember to get back to them immediately but don't always. This stuff is why I disabled that option so people can't see when I read something or that I'm in the middle of typing and no unnecessary freaking out about it happens

That’s what I usually do when I either feel like the topic of the conversation passed or when I don’t have a response. However I only do this with open-ended casual conversations. If you’re asking me something and I left that on read then that’s rude for sure. But if we’re, for example, just having a laugh over something then I don’t feel the need to keep a light conversation about a meme or a tv show going.
