I don’t know too much about it. But at a high level, everyone deserves to be loved. So to answer your question of if it’s ok, yes it is. However, it seems like it’ll take a lot more work and effort on your part.

I try to only share opinions I’m confident about here. But this is a good opportunity to go outside that a bit. So take this with a grain of salt. It might be an absolutely awful idea.
But you might wanna consider talking to their friends and family. The people who know them best, and try to get some insight from them. The risk there is that they might feel like you’re using other people to make a decision about them. Which is never fun. However, in reality, you’re just trying to figure out how to best support them.
I’d also hope that this person is getting a lot of support and resources from family, friends, therapists, etc. It’ll NEVER work if they aren’t trying their best and putting all the effort they can into it.
That's a very good piece of advice but I'm afraid it's too late now. 🙂
