I'm trying to fix things with my ex and she's overly avoidant. Every time I bring up my feelings about something she either ignores what I say entirely or makes it about her and how she feels. How would you go about breaking through this wall?

I'm generally used to us guys being this way than other way around. But if your girl works like me, I think fun and easy can be a transition. Or even sex. Like after sex, you can kind of snuggle up to her and make some jokes, have some laughs, then use that as a transition to more feely and deep topics.
Mutual laughter is one of the best transitions as I see to very touchy and feely topics. If you're laughing together, you can talk about things you feel so deeply because you're already feeling close from mutual laughter and the laughter disperses a lot of the potential for negative effects.
The better question is why should you deal with it? Messing with unrepairably broken people is illogical.
I'd leave her alone
