When I share funny posts that indirectly remind me of times me & my ex had, he shared posts of his new relationship. Why is that likely to be?

Is he trying to reinforce the fact that it’s over between us now (even though he wanted to meet up again after we broke up)?

Or could it be that he’s trying to convince himself that he’s better off with someone else now, because deep down he’s still unsure he made the right decision in breaking up, so is trying to convince himself he did?

Why would someone want to annoy their ex? I get what the behaviour is doing, but not the motivating reason for doing it.
