A man I have just met told me that he closed his heart. He had loved someone deeply, but things went sour real fast, leaving him shattered and scarred, you know. It hit him so hard that he made a decision right then and there to protect himself.
So, what do you think about this? Is this guy just making excuses because he doesn't want me or do you really think there is no room for relationships in his life?
It sounds like he hasn't healed from his past heartbreak. He is sacred to get hurt again. He doesn't want his heart to get hurt anymore, maybe he's not able to fall in love with anymore at the moment. He is emotionally unavailable. Usually this kind of person will run away from love, when he thinks that he is developing feelings for someone, he will repress those feelings. And they will need a lot of love and trust to open up to someone new.
If you really want this man, you'll have to give him a lot of love and care.
I believe it’s an excuse. Men don’t go long with no one in our lives. We tend to go from one girl to the next with hardly a day or two in between (this is an exaggeration). I was crushed horribly in the past. Someone I wanted to raise children with and grow old with ripped my heart out and stepped on it in front of me. I was ready in a few weeks to meet up with some new girl the only difference I was a little smarter, wiser and my heart did have some serious scaring. As for getting over that girl, everyone we meet leaves a part of them in our lives. This never goes away. We can move on and give our hearts to others but we can’t change our memories.
He’s not going to give that excuse to convey to you he isn’t interested. Unless he’s been clear that he’s looking for something strictly casual or friends with benefits, more than likely he’s just warning you that if something develops between you it’s going to take a long time for you to gain his trust.
That isn’t to say that he may never open up again, so it’s up to you how much effort and time you want to put into a relationship. It worked out for my parents, but that was a different time.
I think there's no space for a relationship in his life. It doesn't mean you can't jump start his heart again if you happen to be his one.
But that's pretty few and far between. Usually in those situations it's an old flame (high school/college) that comes back into his life that reminds him of happier times.

The answer is that it can be both. It can be an excuse but it can be that his heart was shattered. And, yes, when that happens you don't want anything. No relationship, no human contact, no food, nothing. You just want the world to end.
Give him time and space but also let him know you're there.
"I closed my heart" means "i won't let you close because you might hurt me, like someone else did in the past" If you like the guy you need to be patient with him and be his friend first. At somepoint he is gonna trust you.

When a female fucks a guy over and hurts him, we are not like women who simply go out and fuck a bunch of random males and “recover” and then jump back into another relationship.
We shut down. We refuse to feel that way again and will block ourselves from feeling for a female that way again.
s It means he’s still very hurt over getting his heart broken, and he’s put mental walls up to avoid loving someone else in that way for the time being. It means he’s still healing from it and he’s not emotionally ready for a new relationship.
At your age (I'm assuming he's around the same) this us VERY plausible. Women aren't the only gender that gets put through the ringer. But many times women are the only gender ALLOWED to admit to it.
There is nothing wrong with this. Thier is nothing wrong with you being patient with him. But HE DOES have to work on healing. And you have every right to pull up stakes and move on if he isn't. Communication is ESSENTIAL here.
If I can try to open my heart again after the death of the love of my life, his punk ass can do it after a little heart break. Tell him to whit feeling sorry for himself. Shit happens

And why do women continue to chase after men that are unavailable? Stop trying to fix someone and find someone that is available physically and mentally.
I had been hurt really badly and was so devastated I decided I would never let myself be stupid enough to trust somebody like I did again. Eventually I got over it but it was a long time.
There's roo. fir a relationship, but he won't open his heart for a long time, if at all. So if you're looking for love, you will have to wait a long time to get it from him. He may not be worth it (to you).
Give him all of the time he needs to heal and let him come to you when he feels that he had fully healed and just be there for him as a friend for now.
You can do this but eventually you will catch feelings for someone again.
