Why does it matter that we know we like each other, what's the big deal about it?

She originally told me first. I never understood it was for real, so, it took me a LONG time to say it back. So, now that we know we do, why does it matter

There's anxiety around the expectation that if two people like each other they should at least try to be together. And if they aren't together for whatever reason, it can get pretty weird.
