Why do you want money more than love?

Though I've never focused on making endless amounts of money, I have chosen to be financially responsible. Rather than acquiring buckets of money to flaunt in front of everyone's faces and show off, I've chosen to make the most of the money I have. I may not have a lot of showy toys or the latest and greatest of everything promoted as 'must haves' by self-serving big business, my self-designed/built home and farm is debt-free... along with my rental house. I'm not interested in proving I'm better than others. I choose to make wise decisions that allow me to have something to show for my efforts rather than spending money just to prove I can spend money.

I've always prioritized creating and nurturing special connections rather than seeking ways to show off. Unfortunately, it is hard to find people who haven't bought into the big-business indoctrination of all the must haves and must dos. I admit it is much easier to be frugal as a single person than when I'm in a relationship. On my own, if I don't have the money I don't spend it, and it doesn't bother me to go without. In a relationship, I want my partner to enjoy herself, so I often spend on her what I wouldn't consider spending on myself. Finding a partner who truly enjoys making the most of what she has rather than always looking at what could or should be would be like heaven to me. There is so much to enjoy that costs little to no money. For instance, foreigners may travel to our town for vacation, while locals feel a need to travel to the other side of the world rather than appreciate what can readily be enjoyed locally. As long as people blindly believe self-serving big business indoctrination, people will continue to be insatiable and unsatisfied, spending just to keep up with the Joneses and never truly getting anywhere.

Money over love is like such a common choice people make that I just don't get. Maybe it's just all the selfishness in a lot of people.

What’s wrong with having both. It is possible if both partners establish boundaries that place your relationship and family first. Discuss it with open and heartfelt dialogue.
