I'm worried about my bro. He's nearly 40 and spends his Saturday afternoons in bed alone. Is this normal?

He might enjoy it, so that would be normal for him. You should probably just check on him though and see how he’s doing and if he’s happy. If it’s only once a week like you said, it’s probably fine though.

When I used to work mon through Fri. I'd be sleep deprived get 4 to 6 hrs a night and it wasn't unusual for me to catch up and sleep over 10 on the weekends.

It's not necessarily abnormal.
