We've been flirting with this girl for a while but not in a relationship yet. But my friends think that she is ugly, on which I don't agree with the. If so, have you ever had an ugly girlfriend?

Once I had a girlfriend who looked rather plain, though not genuinely ugly, either. Overall, it's best to check how well you can get along and not to be blinded by beauty.

On the other hand I think it's nice that my daughter is beautiful and she clearly has that more from my ex-wife than from my side of the family. It's tough do dismiss beauty as unimportant.

Anyway, you seem one of the guys to whom his partner will always appear beautiful as a side effect of desire and hormones. So just enjoy.

I don't think I have ever dated anyone others would describe as ugly. I have been with people I found gorgeous and beautiful that others found, unimpressive. Luckily for me, I'm a bit of an arse and care very little about their opinions if my own differ.

I had one girlfriend that one of the women I worked with said: "Bruce, you can do better"... Problem was, she COULD have been attractive, but would never do anything to show her best features, which was one of the things that led to my dropping her.

She had a lot of good things about her, but she would not extend any effort to improve her appearance at work, or when we went out. Not UGLY per se, but just unkempt.
