Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yIn our household, no. At least w most decisions. I work alone, she takes care of us at home. She looks to me to lead our family in almost all situations. So far I’ve done well. I think we’ve been together long enough, 15 years that I know what her answer is going to be just like she knows what my answers will be as well. I may ask her for advice once in a while, but that’s not all that often. I think it’s worked for us w out me putting that pressure on her, especially in dire situations. As her husband, father to my kids, to keep them protected, to keep that stress off of her.

The last thing I'd want would be to cause my partner discomfort due to not considering her thoughts and feelings about any important issue.

If some of my decisions are going to affect him or take a substantial hit to our bankroll I discuss it with him, just as he does with me. Otherwise, for small decisions like whether or not I'm going to go out for dinner with a friend, or go to the shops, I don't need his permission, and don't consider that a decision he needs to weigh in on. I do inform him though. It's not like I walk out the door or do certain things and disappear for hours, leaving him to wondering what happened to me. College roommates do that. Not couples.

Yes, we are partners. What affects one affects the other. Relationships to me is about open communication, friendship, love and trust. Just like I'd ask a family member or friend for their input why wouldn't I ask my significant other? He would share my life, my home, my ups and downs. I feel your significant other would have your best interests at heart because when you succeed you succeed together or if you fail you fail together.

+1 yOn some topics, I ask my SO for her advice, topics where she is more knowledgeable than I am. I don't always ask her advice though. I'm confident in my own decision-making.
00 Reply 1.9K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Not really. I just do whatever I wanna do cause my husband doesn't care

+1 yNot really I consider their feelings and thoughts on the matter but I don't always ask them about it!
Most choices can be changed so if it is a promotion or new job I take it and talk with them latter... my choice can be changed if needed!
Better to act and get it then miss an opportunity 😉

I run lots of smaller decisions past her, too. She's smart, asks good questions, and gives valuable feedback. Two heads are better than one.
It's not like asking for permission. It's more like "What do you think about this?" We just value each other's knowledge and judgement.
It works the same way the other way around. She does the same thing.10 Reply- 818 opinions shared on Relationships topic.
+1 yIn my last relationship I did. If I'm changing something about the house she's in it seems rude to not ask for her opinion on the matter. Ultimately, my money, my house, but I'd like your opinion on it. Same with some of the rental properties we bought and a couple of my art pieces.

Respectfully , a married couple or a committed relationship should prioritize each other when it comes to making decisions before just assuming you are right and your partner is wrong This is one of the problems with most relationships , just because you assume something is alright it might not be alright for your partner , so for a healthier relationship you should always prioritize each other before making decisions
00 Reply1.1K opinions shared on Relationships topic. I don't have a wife , but if I did , on certain major decisions it would probably be good to consult , buying a car , moving house..
But , I run an investment business , and I'm general manager , I certainly would not consult there , because this is my job , although this is the stuff that can have the most consequence.

+1 yNot married but I do ask my partner for advice in the most important things because I tend to make decisions based on emotions sometimes and he is more logical. He does the same and he sees how much I respect him by coming to him first.
00 ReplyAs I care his opinion, I usually ask him but I prefer to make the final decision myself :)
