Why do some guys have a hard time saying their partner is a priority, while others don't?

Does that mean they don't love you if they don't make you a priority?

If they love you, they’ll make you a priority.


They may or may not have you as their #1 priority, but if they’re serious about you, you should be up there alongside their highest priorities.


Like if a guy’s parents had an untimely death and he had to quickly become the man of the house and he’s looking after his little sister and doing everything he can to provide for her because they have no other family. (I actually knew a guy like this.) Then yeah, he’ll probably prioritize taking care of his little sister above everything else. That’s understandable. You may be prioritized right after career for this scenario if it’s family, career, girlfriend.


But as for guys that prioritize everything above their girlfriends like video games, hanging out with the guys, or just dilly dallying, then they’re being pretty inconsiderate.


When I’m in a serious relationship, I always make time.


Even when I worked 12-hour days, I woke up at 4am every day so I could spend a couple hours in the morning with them since their timezone was 15 hours ahead of mine.


If you’re important enough to them, they’ll find a way to make something work.


If they don’t make you a priority—if they don’t try to make time for you, then you just aren’t that important to them.

It’s important for it to be mutual though. You both should make each other a priority, especially if you intend to spend the rest of your lives together.

I think you have to spend time with your partner... But priority sounds more like jail time. Some men feel trapped because they think the woman has to be nr 1 and nothing else matters.

100 % "priority" is also Unhealthy. There should be room for your own activities with out partner... A lot of people forget that

I think some have a bit of pressure put on them to not seem pussy whipped to their friends, or maybe they're just immersed in their independence, either by choice or unwittingly.

Some guys are proud of their partners and want to let it be known that they come first in their lives. Those are the ones who call their women their best friends. But others want to downplay the relationship, fearing that their friends will make fun of them. Or they just hang on to their independence to the point where they are comfortable with how they've been living as a single guy, that they don't want to or don't know how to consider someone else in their life. Sometimes it's not even on purpose, but out of habit.

Overall you are a priority, broad strokes, but that doesn't mean in every situation you are a priority. We're being chased by someone but you want to stop off at Taco Bell for a snack. Sorry, no, busy now.

You're overthinking this. You are NOT a priority to them, if they don't say so. Doesn't mean they don't like you, or don't respect your time. Just means there are more important things going on.

It depends. Some people have an unfair, unreasonable or unrealistic view of what being a priority means.
