Am I introvert?

I just logged in on Wechat for the first time during my holidays,

I had some messages all these days and I didn’t even log in, cause I was not in the mood of talking, I was reading, watching movies, running by the river, have booked horse riding classes and just did my things.

The fact that I knew I had lots of messages waiting for answers just really made me want to stay away more.

The same happens all the time, on every social media. When I get lots of messages from lots of different people, I just get overwhelmed and answer none of them.

I just replied one of them 6 days later, and he is a nice person from Georgia, living in Shanghai, made me laugh a lot, but I got bored already.

What’s wrong with me?

Why do I get bored of some people even without giving them a chance to show themselves to me and instead spend my time on GaG around the people who I’ll never meet in real life?

That reminds me of people who don’t like checking their email because there are a lot of emails to go through, haha.


You don’t have to be 100% extroverted and 0% introverted. You could perhaps be like 60/40 or maybe an 80/20.

For myself, I’m an introvert, but I believe I’m like 45/55 or something very close to each other. So although I’m an introvert, I can come off as an extrovert at times.

What you lean towards is what you are.

You could simply feel a bit overwhelmed, not at socializing, but the work it takes to go through all those messages.

Do you feel recharged, generally speaking, when you socialize with people? Does it energize you or leave your feeling drained?

How good at you are just being along with yourself, without feeling like you really want to talk to someone?

Those are some questions you can ask to see if people energize you or if people drain you of energy.

Who knows. Perhaps you are an introvert that’s just more extroverted than most introverts. Or maybe you’re an extrovert still, but you have your limits and do need a break now and then.

I wouldn't consider that a trait of introversion.
As an introvert, I personally don't mind having conversations, even exhausting ones, over text with others.
That's because it's sort of on my terms, I can choose to spend however much energy I want over text, I can think things through at my own pace and I can remove myself from the interaction any time I want.

If you don't mind talking on here, then perhaps anxiety is the more likely culprit.
Perhaps because the other social media is less anonymous you feel more pressured.
And precisely because you won't meet anyone on here, it matters less how you come across and because of that it becomes easier to interact with people.

Because on here you ask things you don't ask people in real life. Im guessing when talking to people you know you are more conservative, whereas on here anything that sparks your interest you can just bring up and talk about.

I think you have some intimacy/fear of connection issues going on. it's easier remote than in person. e. g. you don't want to get hurt again.

Bored= you aren't over the past and measuring up to others. you are stuck on someone else.

When you have too many social obligations, it's easy to get completely overwhelmed as has been happening to you. I suggest you simply answer one or two per day and let it go with that.
