Need advice on how to respond and steps going forward?

Me and my guy friend have been friends for years, told how i felt in April he knows how i feel and he said thanks for telling him but really didn't have a clear answer. So, now I have texted him. What's going on, what our friendship status not clear I know.

He replied with, Wow, this kind out of the blue. Why do you ask?

I don't know how to respond?

We have a good solid friendship.

It's pretty obvious that he doesn't want more than friendship. Don't force the issue.

It sounds like you caught him off guard. And he didn't expect you to say what you said. Let me ask you this, how did you think he felt about you before you told him how you felt? Do you think he was feeling you the same way as you do him? And what about now is he being distant, or just not answering back to what you said?

you can text, "when is a good time for a phone call" then call and talk about common interests. maybe he will ask you to date him

First off, I feel like this conversation should be in person, over text is when things get confused and lies can easily be told.

Seeming by his response, you’ve probably been overthink your status while he hasn’t because he doesn’t feel the same way that you do. If you prefer over text (don’t recommend) I’d let him know tour feeling again, tell him that you’re overthinking, and simply ask if he has feeling for you too?) if he says no, at least you have your clarity and if you guys are good friends you’ll move on and laugh at it later.
