Why does he want me back?

I am 27 and my ex (26) who is also the father of our 9 year old daughter wants to be a family again and wants to make things work with me. We haven't been together in 8 years. I just don't understand why now he chooses to make things work. He said he has never loved anyone the way he has love for me. Can someone give me their input? We were each others first for everything and we're together for four years in our teen years.

Hmm that is weird, after 8 years now he wants you back? I would wonder what his deal is. A few thoughts:

- Is he single right now and just lonely? Maybe realizing how much he took you for granted.

- Is he with someone else who dumped him and now he's crawling back? Wouldn't trust that.

- Is he financially stable now in a way he wasn't before? Might be looking at you as a "family" investment now. Shady.

- Could be legit after all this time apart he did some soul searching and misses you. But Actions speak louder than words.

I'd say be real careful. Get the full story on what he's been up to these 8 years. See how he acts around your kid - respectful and caring? Watch for any red flags in his behavior or excuses.

Don't just jump back in cause it seems easy. Make him PROVE he's changed long term before fully committing again. You deserve someone 100% sure about you, not just because they're lonely. Protect your heart!

Maybe he growing up and realized what he gave up and wants to have that back. Maybe he wants to do right by your child. Or (sadly) he could just want to do something that would give your kid a brother or sister. I don’t know for sure, but I hope it is one of the good reasons, not the bad.

This is so open eneded it could be anything from telling thr truth to being desperate to wanting a bind with his kid in a family setting
