+1 yHang up! I hate leaving voice messages- and let's be real, most people don't check them (myself included).
But if it's urgent or someone I need to get ahold of, I will text them if they do not answer, or try to call them again in a few minutes. I hate "repeat calling," but do so if it's important enough.

+1 yIf it's a personal call, I usually hang up and send a short text message. Most of my friends and relatives (my SO) rarely check voicemail... often, their mailbox is full.
If it's a professional call, I usually leave voice mail, knowing that most (but not all) professional check voice mail as part of their normal workday.
20 Reply 343 opinions shared on Relationships topic. Literally just had this debate with my family and had this conversation with my best friend. I called my best friend at like noon this weekend. She didn't pick up, so I just hung up because I figured she was busy or just didn't want to talk. People have lives, a. Hours later she called me and was like, you didn't leave a message? I said, are you kidding me, what a waste of time because all people do when you leave a message is call you back and say, what message did you leave me? We have become a seriously lazy set of people who would rather just ask what the message is about then type in passwords to open our mail box to then listen and then have to call back anyway. So, she laughed, and totally agreed that's exactly what she would have done had I left a message. I told her lets be clear, if I blow up your phone with like 6 calls in a row, I'm desperately trying to reach you or if it were an emergency, I'd blow up your phone, text you, and leave a message. Otherwise, I'm just calling to chit chat which you call me back, whenever.
10 ReplyI leave a message. I do it because years ago I heard a voice mail greeting that said, "I know it's annoying to talk to a machine, but if you don't leave a message, I won't know you called." Pointing out the obvious led me to leave a message.

+1 yDepends on the situation. The vast majority of phone calls I make are business related. Whether or not I leave a message usually depends on how I think I can accomplish the goal most quickly. Sometimes it is faster if I call back myself rather than wait for a callback.
10 Reply 1.6K opinions shared on Relationships topic. I usually text them because none of my dumb friends check their voicemails. Back when there were only house phones, I always left a message on the answer machine. It was like a game or a joke to see who could leave the most ridiculous or long message on the answer machine

+1 yIt depends on what the call is for. If I'm calling for a particular reason where I need an answer i will leave the voice message. If it was just for chit chat like I often do to my parents and no answer I just hang up and try later.
20 Reply 384 opinions shared on Relationships topic. Leave ONE voicemail. I don't have time to call every 30 minutes and see if they'll pick up. Unless it's my job... i'll call three hours later or go over there. I'm not playin' these games- where's my money. 🫠

+1 yI only leave a voice male if its super important, or it's my mother, because she never answers the phone to unknown numbers, and some times her phone doesn't show my contact info when I call.

+1 yUsually leave a voicemail so they know I wasn’t a spam caller and then they call me back
30 Reply 438 opinions shared on Relationships topic. The vast majority of my calls are to Family/Close Friends, they know that I would not call if it was not important, so the fact that I've called is a message in and of itself.
