So what are you asking? If that is a bad thing or what? I would say so if that is what you're wondering about. Anyone that hides a relationship from friends has a reason to do so. That would be a massive red flag for me if it was months. The better question is why are you talking (and arguing) with your ex? Exes are exes for a reason. Don't talk to him because it is obvious you two cannot get along if you are just arguing. He could also be saying that just to get a jab in. Point still is don't talk to him. Problem solved.
