How do I make myself heard in a relationship?

The louder you shout and the more you repeat yourself, the less you'll be heard. People tend to turn off this noise in their head, so it's a waste of time and energy.

If you truly want to be heard, show people you care enough to want to see things through their eyes. Reach out to understand them, and they'll feel less threatened by differences in you and more likely to show interest in hearing and understanding you. If you do this, make sure you are only seeking clarification, not judging what you believe you are hearing. Never accuse, blame, criticize, demand, rationalize, yell or tell people what they should or shouldn't do. Never expect more than you bring to the relationship. Understand this is from the other person's perspective, not yours. It's too easy to legitimize our dysfunctional patterns. If your behavioral patterns aren't taking you where you want to go, come up with new patterns, rather than expecting others to change for you.

It's not by shouting or screaming. As a guy I know that we don't listen. But what does make us take notice is love. Approach every conversation with love in your heart and in your voice and I believe maybe he will listen.
In a past relationship I had this person told me she hated me... And then she wanted to talk. When I heard the hate I shut down already... Nothing more needed to be said.

Give him the silent treatment, that’s what he wanted right. Then slowly let the relationship transition to a roommate type cadence vibe. They usually catch up fast when you match the energy if they care. If there’s still no change, make plan out. Re-evaluate the options. The relationship is between two people. If you only had a relationship with yourself it wouldn’t be that hard.

I feel this all too well sometime it's not even in a relationship but sometimes someone with my guy friends when I talk they cut me off I don't even think they mean to do it and it's like kind of funny but frustrating

You start by choosing a partner who respects you enough to listen. If you don't want to do that then there is no making yourself heard. Beyond that, it comes down to give and take. If you don't give in a relationship don't expect them to for very long. And that includes giving you their attention to be heard.

OK. Could you be diffident in giving your view? A lot of people have difficulty in being assertive versus aggressive versus diffident. It could be you are too polite in putting your view.

It is somewhat relative. You might suggest Chinese. i might suggest we eat Italian expecting us to bounce a few options between us and you might hear me as saying we ARE eating Italian.

Well experiment around that to start with. When people decide they need to be more assertive in life they often overstep and are aggressive. In the scenario above, you just need to say you like Chinese.

I went out for a while with a girl who was far too passive. I had to guess what she liked. I may be making an unfair assumption in thinking you may be diffident or too polite so if it is not come back on this.
