I believe that everyone has a different definition when it comes to relationships. What is yours? It is not only romantic or sexual relationship, I mean all kind of relationships, how would you define the term?
Defining "relationship" is like trying to describe the flavor of water – it's so fundamental and yet can be so different for everyone! At its core, a relationship is a connection or bond between two or more people.
Emotional Connection: This is often the first thing people think about.
Interpersonal Interaction: It’s not just about the feels, though.
Commitment and Expectations: In many relationships, there's some level of commitment or expectation. This could be as serious as a marriage vow or as simple as expecting a friend to reply to your texts.
Shared Experiences and Activities: Bonds are often strengthened (or sometimes tested) by what you do together.
Mutual Influence: People in a relationship often influence each other, whether it’s adopting each other's habits, helping each other grow, or even shaping each other’s views and opinions.
Diversity of Relationships: Remember, relationships aren’t just romantic.
Dynamic Nature: Relationships aren't static. The nature of a relationship at its beginning might be entirely different years down the line.

A voluntary union of two people (in some situations more, but it's out of my experience) based on mutual feelings. Needs a lot of effort and good will to be maintained and kept in a good state. Requires high skills in communication and negotiation to stay in.
If you’re going very broad, it’s like asking, “What’s the current status between you and XYZ?”
How are you and your mom?
How are you and your sister?
How’s your relationship with your boss?
How’s your relationship with your wife?
How’s your relationship with food?
And then one would answer with an adjective or description that serves as a way to explain the current state of things.
If you’re not going that broad, then relationship usually implies a more-than-casual romantic relationship.
This is a really good question.
A relationship is something that defines the connection between two people. It can be entirely platonic, can be romantic etc.
Even friendship is also a type of relationship but yes it does not come under the category of exclusive/committed relationships.
Yes you are right, I suppose the term relationship means different things to different people.

My definition for me in reference to a romantic relationship:
We have agreed to be exclusive. Anything else is not a romantic relationship for me.
Other people have agreements where they have more members in the relationship and would have a different definition.By using a dictionary that literally defines words.
Marriage. And a healthy one.
Check in dictionary. LOL! 😀
