Earliest signs a relationship is starting to end comes in the form of speech. And it isn't even something people do consciously. So only those around them pick up on it. That change is when 1 or both parts of the couple stop using we, us, our, other conjoined words and start using singular words. I, me, you, my, your etc. This happens because your brain realizes unconsciously what your heart is doing so it alters your speech to distance yourself so it hurts less when it happens. Communication between both starts to breakdown after that. More arguments more silence tension stress etc.

I should add that it does not mean the relationship is over you can go back from that but it requires both to sit down and communicate in a healthy and loving way. Without either attacking the other or blaming them for things.
