Were you just assuming they had schizophrenia based on stereotypes? My great uncle had it, and he wasn't scary at all. He just had a hard time communicating and mumbled. A homeless guy in our town also had it, and he just spent all day filling up his grocery cart with junk.

My friends' son has schizophrenia.

He was very difficult for both his parents (my friends) to cope with, especially when he turns violent.

Yes, my grandmother had paranoid delusions -- tin foil hat beliefs. It was sad. My mother did not inherit it.
