+1 yIs it anyway coincidence that women are always asking these kinds of questions? Give an example of a man somewhere saying he “wished to have more platonic female friends”. Really give me just one.
I am not against being friends with women. But it only works if 1) I am not attracted to her 2) she isn’t asking for a bunch of unreciprocated benefits. There is only one woman I have been very long time friends with who falls into this category
Ladies the cold hard truth is men do NOT need platonic female friends in this world to survive. That doesn’t mind we don’t value respectful women as friends. But really in most cases you are more of a liability then an asset when it comes to this.
But 9 out of 10 times the woman gets more out of the platonic “friendship” then man does. And for the 1 out 10s that’s most likely due to the woman being secretly attracted to the man but she’s friendzoned.
Women need to seriously ask themselves exactly what they can offer a man in a “platonic” friendship. Beyond female perspectives on dating, life, etc. it’s often very little.
But the man can offer:
- Strong male logic for resolving problems
- Protection while out in public
- Help lifting heavy objects
- Help with auto/home repair
- He’s usually put on the spot when the waiter comes along with the bill at a restaurant.
- Someone to pick them up in the middle of the night (how often do women do this for male friends)
- Protection against dangerous men
So ladies what can you really do for your platonic male friends that they can’t do for themselves? Serious question.

I wish I had more female platonic friends.

@Billybob46 well that should be very easy for you. There are hordes of women out there who would love to have you as a (truly) platonic friend they can take advantage of.
+1 yThis " I've been doing good at keeping it friendly."
If they were just friends you wouldn't have to try. Make no mistake, these guys want more and if you gave them one chance they would be on you like a lion on a gazelle. We are predators pure and simple. We know when to hide in the grass and wait until we can pounce.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yI will most likely not be friends with women anymore, although I am not exactly against it. I have always seen female friends ask for too many favors and return none. They take advantage of male friends too much. Now I am not asking for sexual favor in return.
But they don't help you when you are sick or care to listen to you. They don't help you in academics or anything. But they use you as an emotional dump bag and treat you like your free personal tutor. But they only want to be around cool guys when they are having fun and don't want to see you in public. I am too tired of this shit anymore. I have seen that in high school, college, and university, and still see that at university.

+1 yShort answer almost always absolutely not. More complex answer yes in theory though it requires the guy to find you very unattractive and/or similar to a family member. Reality is the vast majority of the time no. You can test this by telling them you been thinking about a relationship with them and want to be intimate etc etc whatever you need to show "interest" in near all cases the guy will leap at that chance because he has been waiting for you to say something like that.

+1 yNo.
Only women think this is possible but that is not what he is thinking.
The only reason he is doing that is because he is hoping that one day she will see him as boyfriend material. Or He's waiting for the right moment to strike.
Men who have self respect don't accept the friendzone and know it's better to walk away.
Many women also do not understand the difference between a friend and a man who is just an acquaintance.
00 ReplyTruth be told I believe it’s plausible but the thing is I think you’d both have to address the typical primal nature as we are all humans not necessarily in the sexual nature but just in general to see if you two click.

+1 yIf it's for something like board-game nights and both of them have enough consciousness (that is, the ability to make decicions no matter what their instincts sre doing), then no problem.
00 ReplyI have guy friends, but I have been told its less common when you get older. Kinda of sad if true.

+1 yYes they can. But usually only works when neither finds each other attractive or know that their personalities don't mesh for a relationship.

+1 yYes. That doesn’t necessarily mean there isn’t sexual tension, particularly if she’s attractive. You can control biology, but you can’t overcome it.

+1 yIt's always best to just start every acquaintance as friends. I find it to be less pressure for both sides and if things do escalate then it's better then too

+1 yMen and women can be friends through their partner, or as a group, but a long term one on one friendship? That can’t be done between two adults. One person will always end up catching feelings.
00 Reply 1.4K opinions shared on Relationships topic. yes, I have several women that I am friends with, I see them more as another sister.
00 ReplyThere are exceptions. If they see you attractive, they want to bang you. If not, they won’t touch you and see you only friend material.
