Can platonic male and female relationships work?

The age old question can we just be friends? So can a straight single man and straight single woman be just friends? I believe it is as I have a few platonic male relationships and we have got along just fine.

There can be close personal friendships and shared hobbies/interests and confidante relationships. But I will say for a guy, the more time you spend around a particular woman as a friend, even if you didn't have really many feelings to begin with, the attraction tends to continually grow.

Absolutely, one of my dearest and closest friends is a guy that I have known for over twelve years or more.
We took holidays together with our relative boyfriend/girlfriend, and even attended each other's weddings.
Up to the point of the pandemic, we quite often had small dinner parties, or dined out as a foursome.
He is now one of our son's Godfathers.

Of course. I’ve had a lot of straight guy friends and we were (and still are) just that. It’s very immature and outdated to think males and females can’t stay friends, that there always has to be something between them. If they can’t control their lust & feelings, that’s on them (by them I mean the people who think males and females can’t be friends).

Personally , I don’t think so. There’s a reason why they were attracted to each other enough to be friends, but then isn’t a relationship just a rated R friendship? Typically women try to just be friends with guys but I feel like most guys have the agenda of be friending a girl they are attracted to , to see if they can get any further than the friend zone

Only if there is no attraction from either one. So yeah I could have ugly female friends as a single straight guy. If they where attractive I would want more.

I think it's possible. But rare. I have a lot of male friends, and the once in closest with, is actually people i have either slept with, or other stuff. But in some weird way all of that was still platonic. I also have a few platonic relationships, with guys i just don't find attractive, not that they are bad looking fellas, just that they aren't my type. But i think it is rare to find a male female friendship, where neither have had feelings or sexual thoughts about the other.

I have and have had several platonic relationships with women but women I have had deeper relationships with generally are uncomfortable with me having female friends.
