I've been lying to my friends with benefits? Should I tell him the truth?

I've been friends with benefits with this guy for over a year now. And I've been lying to him about my career/work. He thinks I'm an MT but really I'm not (although I did go to school for it five years ago and have been studying to get my license) I know lying is wrong but he's such a hard worker (he's an electrician). I don't know what to do really. Do you think I should tell him the truth? It could ruin our friendship if I did. I hate myself for lying to him. I honestly wish I could be more like him in working hard like he does. Which is why I like being friends with him.

I've been lying because he told me he doesn't like to deal with people who don't try to better themselves. So I know if I told the truth he'd probably stop talking to me.
