Your thoughts on someone sharing a secret after you shared one do they want to build trust or being manipulative?

Maybe they want to be close but it could also be both. Lots of people are self aware & they see patterns in behaviors. Me personally just to be safe I never really tell the real gritty stuff.(that’s for me to bury or deal with.)
You can’t control people but you can control how much you give them. And I certainly do not want to be blackmailed or have my feelings and past thrown at me in their fit of rage etc. (I don’t really have much to be threatened by. I don’t want others to know what really upsets me to get a rise out of me either.)
