I would say some men care about it more than others. But in general being rich in and of itself does not make a woman more attractive to men in the same way being rich makes a man more attractive to women. There are things that are far more important to men than a woman's money. That's true of women too, but not to the same degree. Men and women value different things in each other.

So what are the most important factors to men from a male perspective?

The characteristics men and women care about in each other haven’t changed for millennia, because they are coded in our DNA. The manifestations of those characteristics may have changed somewhat because the world is a different place today than it was a thousand years ago, but at their core they are the same.

Women have always been attracted to the characteristics in a man that are most likely to make him capable of protecting her and her offspring and providing shelter, comfort and sustenance for them. Thousands of years ago that meant a man who was smart, strong, capable and ambitious.

Men have always been attracted to women who are most capable of successfully procreating and producing healthy, capable and well-adjusted children. That means women who are young, healthy and mentally and emotionally equipped to be good mothers to their children and wives to their husbands.

How do those characteristics manifest in men and women today? For men, they manifest as being tall and strong in stature, being smart and capable, being ambitious, and of course having a good income.

For women it means being physically attractive, which is a proxy for being healthy and capable of producing children and being able to care for them, being kind, loving and nurturing, and being agreeable and supportive to her husband.

Note that nowhere in the above is there mention of a woman having money, a good career and good income. That’s because unlike women, men are not looking for a provider and protector. Men want women who make good mothers and wives. A career doesn't help with those things, in fact it typically stands in the way of them.

I think we should be careful when talking about being agreeable to their husbands, it’s that mindset that has enables a lot of abuse, so I think more clarification would be good there for more younger or vulnerable eyes. A man can not respect a woman he can abuse.

Being agreeable has noting to do with abuse. They are two completely separate things. No woman should allow herself to be abused, but that doesn't mean women married to good men can't be good wives.

No, being agreeable has nothing to do with abuse. Tollerating abuse does. Not the same thing at all.

This is common sense, but if it makes you feel better I will state the obvious for you and anyone else. A good wife is agreeable to her husband. A good wife does NOT tollerate abuse from her husband.

Tolerating: receiving or enduring without offering resistance.

They are semantically aligned in meaning.

Scenario: husband tells wife she’s stupid. She agrees with him. That’s abuse.
She tolerates him. That’s abuse.

What I'm saying is that men and women have different priorities in a mate, and a woman's resources / income are much lower on most men's priority list than a man's is on women's list.

I'm not going to argue with you on that because I learned long ago that observing women's behavior paints a much more realistic picture of women's priorities than listenting to what women tell me their priorities are.

I'm not biased, I'm just a realist. I also believe in the science of human behavior, and there have been many studies that prove what I'm saying, which is that money is far more important to women in selecting a mate than it is to men. Those are likely outdated, tiles are changing as women are far more independent, they prefer a team player, someone who doesn’t contribute so much to money but other aspects too. If you truly understand research and bias you’d realise everyone has a bias of some sort, you can never eradicate it 100% bit can reduce it and we do that by looking at all research (most modern) that argues all sides, not just one that suits our bias. Systematic reviews are the gold standard for this reason.
