It's mainly because they don't want to be alone and nope artificial intelligence is still not the same as sharing your life with a real life partner, having kids and helping out with the bills.

If I were proposed marriage, with the exception of my scanner ex boyfriend (one of the few times I would decline immediately), there is no way I'm throwing away that oppportunity regardless if I'm infatuated or not. If you realize, the falling in love process is short-lived anyway. Passionate love doesn't feed you, help you pay the bills, solve arguments in a healthy manner nor accept all their flaws.

I think there’s both pressure and validation people get from broad society to do it. I feel like some people want to do it just to say they accomplished it, to not be a loser in their own perception of themselves.

In today's world people have access to the internet intelligent etc.

That's up to the individual. Sometimes staying with the wrong person is better than being alone.
