+1 yMy ex spent most of his money on me and savings🫣 I never asked! It was his choice. Actually according to his Chinese traditions, he offered me his whole salary, to which I declined. I thought it was too extreme of a tradition.

We were young and stupid.

Funny thing is even his mother called me one day, almost demanding me to take his whole salary, as this seems to be a tradition in China, she told me husband’s money belongs to a wife and I must have accepted and only given my fiancé whatever he needed for daily expenses, cause Chinese seem to think women are the head of finances there…
That was a culture shock 😂

Me. They pay bills and most of what's left goes to me to decide what to do with it. I put most into investments, and most of what's left after that goes into taking care of kids and animals.

Investments? Uh, like wall street?

I'm so disappointed there hasn't been "a big one" (a massive worldwide stock market crash) since 2007-2009. Even the 2020 Covid "dip" wasn't a big one. How much longer do you think I have to wait in my lifetime for another big one, stock market crash on the scale of 2007-2009? 😋😋 Like the movie Margin Call 2011, Jeremy Irons says 'this is the big one' to Kevin Spacey lol midway through the film. Lol. So much for a 2023 recession while everyone was celebrating the highs and recent highs of the wall street climb

@wolfcat87 I'm still waiting for 'another big one" lol on the scale of 2008 stock market crash. Lol. Maybe this year 2024 will finally be the year. Otherwise I may as well pin my hopes on 2028 the anniversary of the 2008 stock crash lol. Ah well 🫤😄
- +1 y
Emphasis on 'big one' I felt that the 2020 dip was just a dip, a drop in an ocean, I was so sad. And that I hadn't switched to cash options before or during that 2020 dip, then I could've switched back a month or three later and rode the rise back up lol 😆 ah well 😧😋

@systemsareyo "Wall Street experienced its worst year since 2008's Great Recession. The S&P 500 index fell 19.4%, and the Down Jones Industrial Average fell 8.9%. Tech stocks were some of the worst performers, down between 22% and 66%."

People who time the market make less than people who start now and just invest regularly. Dollar cost averaging. We get a recession about once every 10-20 years, but there's no guarantee on what each will be like.
"What makes timing the market difficult is that many of the best days occur in bear markets or recessions and some of the worst days occur during bull markets."

+1 yIt used to be alcohol but he's calmed down on the drinking so now I'm not so sure.
110 Reply- +1 y
Why a heavy drinker, he? 🧐
- +1 y
He used to go out to the bar a lot with friends. He would go out at least twice a week to the bar to hang out. Now he rarely goes out to the bar.
- +1 y
Hmm. Is that, uh, good? 😅🫤
- +1 y
Or, not good, mmm 🫤
- +1 y
It wasn't when he was heavily drinking at the bar but like I said before he's calmed down with the drinking. I think it had a lot to do with the other job he had because it was super stressful. The new job he has is better for him and less stressful. So he doesn't drink as much.
- +1 y
Has it also made him a better man, even a better energetic guy?
- +1 y
And improved you also?
- +1 y
Yes it has made him better. He definitely has more energy and is healthier. I think it has made me better also as well in terms of calming down on my own bad habits like procrastinating.
- +1 y
Can I ask a serious question here. Do you find procrastinating makes it hard to stay focused on a significant other also? E. g. you could be having a wonderful date or a wonderful time, however the mind just starts to wander elsewhere, even to the mundane or random thoughts, before snapping back to being in the moment 😀🧠
- +1 y
It can but I've never let procrastination come in on my relationship with my boyfriend. I used to procrastinate in my work but I've gotten better at handling that.

Do you enjoy drinking for the effects or the taste? It's not often I've come across women who enjoy drinking or that stronger stuff either. No judgement just wonder
- +1 y
@systemsareyo I enjoy a tot of gin before our evening meal. Good stuff, like Bombay Sapphire or Tanqueray. My partner likes a malt whisky, like Lagavulin or Talisker. My mum and her guy stick with wine.
- +1 y
Oh you'll be shocked then to hear the follow as much as that answer of yours plus comment surprised me: i don't drink. I have tried the tastes, I just don't care for alcohol. At all. Even the removed stuff is just... I'd rather have water or soda lol 😆 sweet stuff
