First you should say 'almost half of cheating married men (48%) have cheated with someone close to home'. The source being IllicitEncounters is likely to be people who cheat or think about cheating. It is a great deal different to married men.

Just to have a little fun with this the poor cheating married men and their nannies are being put in abnormal situation.

The nannies are taking care of the man's children so they are the man's wife in a traditional gender role sense. It can be quite a bonding moment for the mother and father to get a child to settle down. Except it is the nanny instead of the wife who is having the bonding moment with the father.

So it is not surprising they start doing other traditional gendered role activities together.

Similarly with housekeepers. So we have 42% of cheating married men, cheating with the women that the wife has outsourced the traditional female roles to, thus confusing their husband into thinking the nanny/housekeeper is his wife. :) :) :)

OK, so I guess 25% is lower than the initial claim of 32%, and I really want to know what is the agenda of the site You quote (there were surveys in the past that were heavily manipulated and that might yet another example of such a survey). Even so, taking these 25% for truth, the answer is, as usual, irresponsibility, and on both sides.

First, the wife is irresponsible, as she hires a nanny instead of taking the responsibility of taking care of her own children by herself. This is in alignment with the argument of outsourcing traditional female roles to nannies. If some of these roles are being outsourced, some more might naturally follow, as there is no clear boundary of how far that outsourcing can go. The reversed question could be: "Why do men hire plumbers, electricians etc. if their wives are likely to cheat on them with these other men?" The answer would be substantially the same, the inability of the parties outsourcing their roles to other people to take responsibility. People tend to be attracted to responsible people, that's it.

Second, the husband is irresponsible, as he acts on his impulses with total disregard for the general well-being of the family he willingly set up. Even if the wife turns out to be irresponsible, it's the role of the husband to act rationally instead of instinctively. This irresponsibility, however, is only to blame under some conditions. The first one is about the willingness of the husband to set up the family. Even though "casual sex" is yet another example of irresponsibility, if the man was manipulated into marriage against his will, it voids his responsibility to uphold said marriage and family. One way to manipulate a man into a marriage is to make him wrongly believe the child conceived as a result of the aforementioned "casual sex" is his when they're not. Now... If the wife is fundamentally dishonest and cheating on her husband (with said plumbers, electricians etc., for example), it voids his responsibility to be faithful as well, as the family is practically nonexistent anyway.

The kind of people who hire nannies aren’t living a typical life. While I have some doubts about your 32% statistic I also think, like anybody who understands statistics, what it doesn’t tell me is just as informative as what it says.

What’s the income demographics? How many of those 32% have cheated before and are simply continuing their normal behavior? Most importantly to me: How many of those women are in relationships in which they are soulless career-driven women willing to outsource raising their own children? It may say as much about the quality of them women as it does the men.

That you want something done and either don't have the time to do it yourself or for some other reason don't want to do it. You think your time is better spent elsewhere.

I can think it's a bit tragic though if people get kids and only spend the least possible time with them.
I understand that people have jobs and stuff.
But at least when you can, spend some time with your kids, show an interest in them so they know you care and love them. Don't take them for granted.

I wouldn't hire a Nanny because I think parents can raise a child better. I think one of the parents should be with the kids for good brought up at all times while other works. I just don't trust them, not because of cheating or anything but because they are not as careful with someone else's child.

Alright Fairy Odd parents is a cartoon with evil nanny but really they can be mean to kids in real life too.

I think women hire nannies because they don´t want to be bothered with educating children or taking care for them especially when they are young. They assume their husband to be loyal and don´t see the risk of him cheating with that woman on them.

We raised our own kids with no nanny and I was raised by my parents which is how it should be.

It's not 32% of all men. Just 32% of families with nannies.. This is how women interpret stats to make it seem worse than it is.. It's like the Stat 60% of women cheat with their personal trainers.. Or 60% of women who have personal trainsers cheat wirh them.. The percentage of women who have personal trainers is less than 1%.. Same as families with nannies. It's less than 1%..

I think having a nanny is a terrible thing if and only if the nanny is taking over your entire role as a parent, she should only be covering for you not turning into a substitute. If thats the case then she might as well marry the husband.
