Finding the balance between spending time with your partner and having space/time to yourself can be difficult when you're in a relationship. A lot of the time people aren't very understanding of the fact that their partner wants space. They feel rejected and neglected, so people tend to not express the fact that they want that space and just repress those feelings entirely to accommodate their partners. That's why there's an ongoing joke of why men love the washroom so much. It's the one place we know we can actually have our space and "me time" not having to worry about anything.

When we do everything to appease our partners, we tend to neglect our own hobbies, passions, and goals. The key to fixing that reoccurring scenario is to have open and honest communication and be mature about it. Everyone needs their space. The truth ia though, not everyone is mature enough to understand and give their partner that space.

When people enter a relationship they give it all they’ve got - attention, time, and focus- they want to do things right.

Hobbies often take the very same things a relationship requires.

They think it's one or the other, especially if their partner doesn't like the hobbies they have.

You lose yourself willingly with the choices that you make, and one day the person your significant other fell in love with is no longer there. The very focus and attention you give them suffocates your relationship. Work on giving both your relationship and what you like doing equal attention.

Your partner fell in love with you, the you that had the other aspects that are being repressed right now. For the sake of your relationship, try not to suffocate them with claws of love.

Definitely not a good thing to do but I admit I have done that in the past. I guess because you become a little obsessed with them and want to spend all your time together. At the end of the day it isn't healthy or a good thing to do because once they start loosing interest in you, ignoring you more, being on their phone. What are you gonna do? You are gonna feel hurt and bored because you gave up things or friends for this person and you aren't even their focus anymore.

When you are in love, really in love, sometimes those things have a tendency to change. Quality time with my boyfriend is my hobby. Loving him is my passion. Building a future with him is my goal.

I guess the combination of work, being in a relationship, and maintaining your place, (so life in general) takes a good chunk out of your week, which makes it difficult to focus on your hobbies, passions and goals.

A relationship shouldn't get in the way of your hobbies, passions and goals, as those are important aspects of one's life. The couple should really sit down and set aside time to work on their personal hobbies, goals and passions.

Id give everything up to fall in love with someone and move into the middle of nowhere where we’d have to survive off the land. Just the two of us. No one wants that though. They all have family, friends and jobs they actually like and dont wanna leave 🙄😤

I don’t, I have friends no matter being in a relationship, I’m a member of football, rugby and cricket clubs, I still play those. I have a career and still actively pursue that. We have long term married guys doing the same thing.

We don't. Some of us, yes, they do. They often experience infatuation very intensely and are almost obsessed with their partner and can't focus on anything else. It fades with time, and they return to their normal selves.
