Should a guy who likes expensive things find a woman who likes expensive things?

This is one of the things my wife and I are the most different on.

I am a bit of a spoiled guy. I like my luxuries, from basic things such as cigars and liquors, to custom tailored clothing, to changing and getting a new car every one and a half year. My wife instead buys stuff from retail, smokes vulgar cigarettes, when she drinks she gets a beer, and drives the same five years-old T-Roc and balks when I propose getting her a new vehicle. And it's not like she doesn't have money or anything of the sorts.

She jokes that her friend Ada and I would get perfectly along on matter of taste, but also warned me that if I was with someone like her I'd probably buy less stuff for myself with all the things she'd want.

Of course this is just joking, we love each other even with our different tastes.

For me and a woman with rich tastes to be able to work they would need to be able to understand and accept my mind set which is the complete opposite of theirs.

And most girls with rich tastes or rich girls in general couldn't fathom much less understand what it's like to truly struggle your entire life finically. I don't even really like people spending tons of money on me because it's so alien and unfamiliar to me that I just don't really know how to handle it. My first instinct is to pay em back because I don't like owing people. And because I feel bad because I can't do the same for them.

Like if you gave me the option of going to a old school diner or a 5 star restaurant and it was paid for by someone else either way I'd probably still choose the diner because it's cheaper and I would get more food for the money spent.

Hell I've never even taken a vacation or been on one. Closest thing to it was when I was basically forced to take some mental health days off from work because what I was going through at the time was affecting my work and even then it was awful. And even if I could afford to take one in my mind I'd just be thinking about how it'd set me back finically and how I'm not getting paid because I'm not working.

That's just the kind of life I've lived and they'd have to understand and accept that part of me for it to work out. And it's not that I don't spend money or buy nice things I just do it sparingly.

I'm actually extreme that way with my wife except with the roles switched. She has very nice and more expensive tastes: champagne and foie gras type, while mine are like McDonald's dollar menu.

I do reasonably well for myself as a software dev (not rich, but decent) but I came from a working class home and never learned to appreciate these finer things. I can't tell the difference between a $200 bottle of wine and a $12 bottle of wine.

But I think my wife and I made a nice match since she cultured me a bit and in exchange I got her to let loose a bit. Like at fancy 7-course French restaurants, I used to be like, "Why the hell did they give us like 3 spoons? Which one am I supposed to use?" Then she taught me to use the utensils from outside in and I was like, "Ohhhhh!"

So now we sort of meet in the middle.

I have a similar problem with my fiancée. She grew up in rural China under Chairman Mao and had a very impoverished life, so she has learned to never spend money on herself and buy clothes in thrift stores. I sometimes take her shopping just so I can make sure she gets some nice things for herself.
